Internal Audit Manager Role
This role offers an excellent opportunity to manage Internal Audit within a growth-focused company that practices ‘Next Gen’ ways of working.
Reporting to the CFO, you will oversee all Internal Audit activities and participate in a variety of audit and advisory engagements, gaining exposure to senior stakeholders and strategic initiatives. Your responsibilities include delivering high-quality audits aligned with the audit methodology, reporting results through clear audit reports, and engaging stakeholders to promote continuous improvement. The role involves interaction with the Executive Committee and Audit Committee.
The position is hybrid, based at our Soapworks site in Manchester, with home working options.
Key Responsibilities:
- Influence, support, and deliver risk-based and integrated audit engagements using your expertise and experience.
- Build effective relationships across the business.
- Conduct audits compliant with IIA standards, ensuring quality and attention to detail, identifying control weaknesses and root causes.
- Oversee co-source audits conducted via third-party agreements.
- Draft high-quality audit reports with suggested remediation actions.
- Prepare internal audit updates for the Executive Committee, Audit Committee, and PLC Board.
- Lead the annual audit planning process.
- Monitor and report on management action implementations within agreed timeframes.
- Identify and implement continuous improvements in methodology, training, and processes.
- Represent the CFO at key meetings and committees as needed.
- Manage the MKI audit system.
Qualifications and skills include:
- Minimum five years of experience in Internal Audit, risk, and control activities.
- Excellent report writing and oral communication skills.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders and influencing effectively.
- Sound judgment and decision-making capabilities.
- Proven stakeholder engagement skills, maintaining objectivity and independence.
- Experience in delivering project assurance (preferred but not essential).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
