Overview

Role: Audit Quality and Strategy Implementation Director

We're looking for an Audit Quality and Strategy Implementation Director who will play a pivotal role in enhancing and streamlining our national audit practice. This isn't just about maintaining standards, it's about raising the bar.

You'll be at the heart of our strategy, driving audit quality, embedding consistency across newly acquired firms, and harnessing the latest technology (AI, best-in-class tools, horizon scanning) to keep us at the forefront.

You'll work closely with the Auditco Board, the Head of Audit, the Audit Compliance Principal and key regulators, ensuring we not only meet but exceed expectations. It's a role with huge scope and visibility, perfect for someone ready to make their mark.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set and maintain high standards of audit quality across the group in line with ISQM 1 & 2, and ICAEW requirements.
  • Shape and align audit methodologies, systems and quality frameworks across the group to deliver a consistent approach across all hubs.
  • Lead integration of audit processes across newly acquired firms, ensuring every audit meets the highest standards.
  • Oversee internal quality reviews, root cause analysis, and timely remediation.
  • Mentor and coach audit partners and managers in delivering high-quality audits.
  • Ensure effective communication of audit methodologies, systems and quality frameworks across the group.
  • Partner with the Audit Board, Head of Audit, and Audit Compliance Principal on regulatory matters.
  • Liaise with external regulators during monitoring visits and lead remedial action plans.
  • Provide technical expertise across FRS 102, IFRS, and UK GAAP.
  • Evaluate and implement tools to enhance audit quality, data analytics, and workflow efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with IT and transformation leads to streamline audit workflows across the firm.
  • Lead training and CPD strategy for audit technical standards, methodology, and regulatory developments.
  • Influence thought leadership internally and externally.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • ICAEW (or equivalent) qualification with extensive audit practice experience
  • Deeply knowledgeable of auditing standards, regulations, FRS 102, IFRS.
  • Experience in methodology development, audit technology, and quality standards.
  • Proven leadership with the ability to influence stakeholders and build strong regulator relationships.
  • A pragmatic, versatile approach that thrives in a fast-changing, growing environment.
  • A collaborative, inclusive mindset with a passion for driving improvement and innovation.
