Audit Learning & Development – Learning & Development Experienced Manager / Senior Manager (Development)

Learning and Development (L&D) is a key enabler of our strategy within the Audit Stream and is critical to our success. It helps us attract, develop, and retain talented people who take pride in their work and deliver results. Effective L&D underpins quality and productivity by developing our people’s knowledge and skills, helping them reach their potential.

Effective L&D requires specialist resources who partner with the Audit Stream to identify and respond to training needs. It involves careful planning, project management, a critical-thinking and commercial mindset, and understanding regulatory requirements. We leverage the latest innovations, tools, and technology to develop relevant, tailored, and timely development solutions for our people.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Manager / Senior Manager or equivalent to join our Learning Development team. The role suits a high-performing, ambitious individual eager to support current initiatives and help shape future L&D strategies during a growth phase. This role reports to the Development and Monitoring Lead (DAM).

The Learning Development team designs, curates, and creates content for the Audit programme, aiming to develop impactful, innovative solutions aligned with learner needs and business outcomes. The team includes technical and non-technical specialists responsible for authoring activities.

Lead authors collaborate with Business Partners and Audit SMEs to understand business objectives, translate them into learning objectives, and design effective learning interventions using innovative methodologies and insights. They support project management and facilitate programs where appropriate.

The successful candidate will lead a portfolio of learning programs, review content from other authors, mentor junior team members, and drive initiatives like the Learning Library and Learning Culture programs.

Requirements include practical audit experience, a solid understanding of financial reporting, ethics, and professional conduct. Experience in designing technical learning content is essential. Formal design qualifications are beneficial but not mandatory, with proven on-the-job experience considered equivalent.

This role can be based anywhere in the UK, with travel to London and other offices, including some residential stays for courses.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Developing impactful, innovative content aligned with learner needs and business outcomes
  • Reviewing content created by team members to ensure quality, efficacy, and consistency
  • Building and maintaining relationships with content SMEs
  • Supporting program delivery through project management and facilitation
  • Designing, curating, or creating technical and non-technical content
  • Supporting the wider L&D team with development, delivery, and evaluation activities
  • Training facilitators and hosts to deliver content effectively
  • Leveraging audit experience and understanding of accounting to develop relevant content
  • Coaching and upskilling junior team members and building L&D expertise
  • Collaborating with various teams to understand learning needs and develop appropriate content
  • Integrating innovation and technology into learning design
  • Supporting strategic initiatives and advocating change

Required skills and experience

  • Manager/Senior Manager (or equivalent) with experience in developing both technical and non-technical audit training content, including regulatory reporting
  • Formal L&D qualifications are advantageous but not essential; proven experience in content authoring and review is required
  • Knowledge of current design thinking, innovation, tools, and technology in learning
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to coach, develop, and inspire others, with the capacity for independent work
  • Experience with behavioral change or cultural programs is a plus
  • Interest in self and team development through high-quality learning interventions
  • Ability to translate learning needs into objectives and coordinate responses
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong data analytics and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of business strategy and goals with a focus on effective delivery
