Job summary

Mercer & Hole Chartered Accountants is offering an Audit Higher Apprenticeship Programme in the United Kingdom. The scheme starts with hands-on audit work while studying toward AAT Level 3 and Level 4, with a clear route to ACA qualification and eventual chartered status.

You will gain broad client exposure, learn from senior managers and partners, and progress through Year 1 and Year 2 with dedicated support, training management, buddy system, and study leave.

Qualifications

• Minimum 112 UCAS points with at least 3 A-Levels or equivalent (excluding EPQs).
• Support towards ACA qualifications after completing AAT steps.

Responsibilities

• Analysing bank payments and receipts as part of day-to-day tasks.
• Preparing control accounts and calculating prepayments and accruals.
• Updating fixed asset registers to reflect additions and disposals.
• Drafting basic financial statements and applying fundamental auditing principles as part of a wider team.
• Preparing more complex statutory accounts with disclosures that comply with company law.
• Undertaking smaller audits independently and performing more advanced audit testing.
• Supporting junior apprentices as a buddy to new starters.
