Under the direction of senior staff, participate in the day-to-day work of the Department of Cellular Pathology, in particular:
- Providing clerical support for multidisciplinary meetings and archive activities
- Providing clerical support within the histology office and laboratory
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be responsible for:
- The organisation and compilation of the Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings (MDTs), including printing, searching the MDT list, and presenting slides/reports appropriately and within designated times. This includes managing physical slides, reports, digital images, and electronic documents.
- Involvement in digital scanning of slides and organisation/collation of digital cases.
- Maintaining filing systems for blocks, slides, and other documents for meetings or other purposes as requested by medical, technical, or secretarial staff.

Job responsibilities
The post-holder will:
- Organise and compile MDT meetings, including managing physical and digital slides and reports.
- Involve in digital scanning and organisation of digital cases.
- Maintain filing systems for various documents.
- Organise and dispatch slides/blocks to external sites promptly.
- Record receipt and return of slides/blocks using appropriate systems.
- Assist with information provision for referrals and MDTs.
- Transfer reports from external sites into the department's system.
- Perform routine office duties such as filing, photocopying, and mailing.
- Act as liaison for MDTs between staff and clinicians.
- Ensure digital images are accessible for MDTs.
- Use trust systems for tracing medical notes.
- Handle telephone inquiries and notify senior staff of issues.
- Follow SOPs and health and safety guidelines.
- Maintain files and participate in staff appraisals.
Person Specification
Education/Training/Qualifications
- Numerate and literate with at least 4 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English (grade 4/C or above).
Work Experience
- Administrative experience
- Teamwork experience
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Knowledge of lab procedures and computer systems with good keyboard skills
