Sheridan Maine is seeking a motivated Audit Assistant Manager to join a dynamic UK accountancy firm in Bristol. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in the delivery of high-quality services across a diverse client base while developing your leadership and technical skills within a growing, supportive accountancy practice.

You will work with a broad range of clients, from large corporate entities and fast-growing owner-managed businesses to not-for-profit organisations and educational institutions. You'll play a vital role in overseeing client assignments, maintaining strong relationships, and mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities as an Audit Assistant Manager:

  • Managing and delivering a range of client assignments to a high standard, on time and within budget.
  • Taking ownership of a small portfolio of clients across various sectors.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for client queries and developing strong working relationships.
  • Supervising, coaching, and supporting junior staff, including conducting performance reviews and providing feedback.
  • Monitoring progress and communicating effectively with senior team members on emerging issues.
  • Supporting business development and networking initiatives as required.
  • Maintaining up-to-date technical knowledge relevant to your role and client base.
The successful Audit Assistant Manager should possess the following:
  • Are ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Have proven experience in an accountancy practice setting, ideally with exposure to audit, accounts preparation, or advisory services.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Are highly organised, detail-oriented, and commercially aware.
  • Enjoy developing and mentoring junior staff.
  • Have access to transport and a full driving licence (essential for client visits).
  • 2+ years of experience in a UK practice.
