Job Description
- Lead audit projects from start to finish—manage the team, liaise with clients directly, identify risks, and ensure compliance with UK standards.
- Handle financial statements and accounts for clients—possess thorough knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS. Resolve complex accounting issues with partners when necessary.
- Manage accounts preparation for clients—from initial stages to completion—including tax returns. Ensure timely filings with HMRC and Companies House.
- Build strong relationships with clients—be their primary contact, proactively solve problems, and provide sound advice.
- Support junior team members—mentor, review their work, and offer constructive feedback. Foster a positive team environment.
- Identify opportunities for business growth—spot client needs and collaborate with partners to secure new work.
- Keep projects on schedule and within budget—manage your time effectively, meet deadlines, and communicate expectations clearly to clients.
- Stay updated on latest regulations—commit to continuous learning through training and professional development.
The Successful Applicant
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) or final stages of qualification
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in practice, with exposure to both audit and accounts preparation; a mixed role background is advantageous
- Strong understanding of UK GAAP and experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
- Attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger picture—balancing precision with strategic insight
- Excellent time management skills, capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills—approachable, professional, and effective in client and team interactions
- Problem-solving mindset—able to think quickly and develop practical solutions
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel to client sites around Manchester and nearby areas
- Motivated to learn and grow—ambitious with a desire to take on increased responsibility
