Job Description

  • Assist in audit projects from start to finish, supporting the team, communicating with clients directly, identifying risks, and ensuring compliance with UK standards.
  • Handle financial statements and accounts, with a strong knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS. Resolve complex accounting issues alongside seniors.
  • Manage accounts preparation for clients, including tax returns, ensuring timely filings with HMRC and Companies House.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients, acting as their go-to resource, proactively solving problems, and providing sound advice.
  • Support team growth and maintain a positive team environment.
  • Identify potential growth opportunities where possible.
  • Ensure projects stay on track and within budget, managing time effectively and communicating expectations clearly to clients.
  • Stay updated on latest regulations, continuously developing skills through training and professional updates.

The Successful Applicant

  • Semi-qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) nearing final stages of qualification, at least up to professional level.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in practice, with exposure to both audit and accounts preparation; a mixed role background is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of UK GAAP and experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger picture.
  • Proficient with Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Excellent time management skills, capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for direct client interaction and mentoring junior staff.
  • Problem-solving mindset with practical, innovative thinking.
  • Valid driving license and willingness to travel to client sites around Manchester and nearby areas.
  • Motivated to learn and grow, with a desire to take on additional responsibilities.
