Overview
We're working with a long-established, respected Accountancy firm based in Central London that is looking to recruit an experienced and proactive Audit and Accounts Manager. This is a key leadership role, ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of audit and accounts work, thrives in a client-facing environment, and is looking for clear career progression in a supportive firm.
The Role
As Audit and Accounts Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, leading audits from planning through to completion, overseeing statutory accounts preparation, and supervising a team of seniors and juniors. You’ll work closely with the partners and play a vital role in client relationship management, quality control, and staff development.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied portfolio of audit and accounts clients
- Lead audits from planning to completion in line with auditing standards
- Review financial statements prepared under FRS 102 and UK GAAP
- Oversee and review corporation tax computations and VAT returns
- Act as a key point of contact for client queries and relationship management
- Supervise and mentor audit and accounts staff, supporting their technical and professional development
- Monitor job budgets, workflow, and WIP
- Identify opportunities for added-value services and liaise with partners on advisory work
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal processes
Requirements
- ACA or ACCA qualified
- At least 5 years’ experience in practice, including significant audit exposure
- Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting and auditing standards
- Previous experience managing staff and reviewing work
- Comfortable leading client meetings and managing expectations
- Well-organised with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with cloud-based and audit software (e.g. CaseWare, CCH, Xero)
