Job summary

The Skills Coalition in Peterborough is seeking an Audit & Accounts Trainee to gain hands-on experience across audit and statutory accounting. The role includes structured study support and mentorship from experienced professionals, with hybrid work after initial training.

You will assist in external audits, prepare financial statements, and develop proficiency in accounting software while progressing through professional qualifications.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs required with Maths & English; A-level or equivalent preferred.
  • Interest in audit and progression through professional bodies (AAT, ACCA or ACA).
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Clear and confident communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organisation and time-management, able to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with accounting software advantageous.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic and rapidly growing accountancy practice, is seeking an enthusiastic Audit & Accounts Trainee to join their Peterborough team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both audit and accounts, backed by excellent study support and mentorship from seasoned professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with planning and executing external audits across a varied client portfolio.

Candidate Profile
  • Educated to A-level standard (or equivalent) with 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4/A*-C (inc. Maths & English); degree in a relevant discipline preferred
  • Genuine interest in audit, accounts and progression through professional bodies (AAT, ACCA or ACA)
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Clear and confident communicator, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organisation and time-management, able to juggle multiple priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with accounting software advantageous
