Audit & Accounts Manager (Not For Profit)
Job Description
TPF Recruitment is hiring on behalf of a Top 15 accountancy firm in London, seeking an experienced Audit & Accounts Manager to join its dedicated and growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of clients, including charities, independent schools, Oxford colleges, religious organisations, NHS charities, and commercial businesses.
The successful candidate will manage a client portfolio in excess of £500k, delivering multiple assignments within audit (75%), accounts (15%), and tax (10%), while working closely with partners and senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit & Accounts Management
- Leading and managing audit and accounts assignments from planning to completion.
- Preparing job plans, budgets, and time management schedules.
- Supervising and delegating tasks to team members and monitoring progress.
- Conducting detailed reviews of audit files and providing constructive feedback.
- Finalising audit and tax computations for partner review.
- Ensuring timely submission to HMRC and Companies House.
- Liaising with tax specialists for compliance requirements where necessary.
- Using Pro Audit, CCH, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (experience preferred but not essential).
- Client & Sector Engagement
- Acting as the main point of contact for clients, HMRC, and other professional advisors.
- Attending Governor and Trustee meetings, presenting reports, and explaining accounting concepts.
- Representing the firm at client seminars and networking events.
- Supporting business development, identifying client growth opportunities, and contributing to new client proposals and tenders.
- Team Development & Management
- Mentoring and overseeing trainees during their training contracts.
- Providing regular performance feedback and development support to junior staff.
- Assisting with in-house training sessions and technical guidance.
- Encouraging team motivation, development, and maintaining a positive working culture.
- Practice Development & Administration
- Identifying opportunities for improving systems and processes.
- Supporting partners with billing procedures and debt collection where appropriate.
- Contributing to the overall growth and management of the firm.
RequirementsSkills, Knowledge & Experience- ACA/ACCA (or international equivalent) qualified.
- Proven experience managing a client portfolio of at least 40% audit work.
- Non-profit sector experience is desirable but not essential.
- Strong understanding of UK auditing and accounting standards.
- Experience working in a Top 50 accountancy firm.
- Working knowledge of corporate tax and VAT.
- Preferably familiar with Pro Audit and CCH.
- Strong leadership, communication, and client engagement skills.
- Ability to motivate and develop junior team members.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Organised, adaptable, and able to manage multiple projects efficiently.
