Job summary

Sheridan Maine is delighted to be supporting an established Hertfordshire accountancy practice in appointing an Audit & Accounts Manager. You will manage a varied client portfolio, oversee audit assignments from planning through to completion, review statutory accounts and provide practical accounting guidance.

The successful candidate will possess ACA or ACCA (or equivalent), have strong leadership and client-relationship skills, and be eligible to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualification (or equivalent) is required.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in UK accountancy practice audit and accounts.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting and auditing standards; proven client management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of clients including owner-managed businesses and SMEs.
• Oversee audit assignments from planning through to completion.
• Review statutory accounts and ensure compliance with standards.
• Act as main point of contact for clients with accounting advice.
• Manage deadlines, budgets and workflow for efficient service delivery.
• Review work by junior team members and provide guidance.
• Liaise with Partners on technical matters and client requirements.

The successful Audit & Accounts Manager will have:

• ACA or ACCA qualification, or equivalent.
• Significant experience in audit and accounts within a UK accountancy practice (minimum of 2 years).
• Proven experience managing audit assignments and reviewing statutory accounts.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting and auditing standards.
• Experience managing client relationships and overseeing a portfolio of clients.
• The ability to supervise, mentor and develop junior team members.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
