Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHSFT

We are seeking an Audiologist to be a member of our team providing comprehensive Audiological Services to Adult and Paediatric patients, who present with Hearing, Balance and Tinnitus disorders.

We welcome applications from newly-qualified graduate Audiologists!

Main duties of the job

Clinical

  1. Routine diagnostic acoustic admittance measurements.
  2. Selection, fitting and programming of digital and analogue hearing aids, in line with MHAS and departmental protocols.
  3. Taking of aural impressions and fitting ear moulds.
  4. To assess the benefit derived from hearing aids, using subjective and objective measures, including informal methods, appropriate questionnaires and insertion gain measurements.
  5. To use clinical judgement after interpreting results, to refer to appropriate medical and local support services as necessary.
  6. To record accurate results of testing in hospital and departmental records as appropriate, including providing patient reports as necessary and ensuring that these are filed appropriately and use of Patient Management System.
  7. Responsible for calibration of audiological equipment, on a day-to-day basis.
  8. Provides support to Clinical Educator, for training of BSc & MSc students from local universities.

Person Specification

Qualifications and experience

  • BSc Healthcare Science (Audiology) or equivalent.
  • Experience of working/training in the NHS.
  • Full driving licence and access to vehicle.
  • AHCS registration, or working towards.
  • Experience of working as part of a team.
  • Paediatric Audiology experience.

Interpersonal skills

  • Clear speech and easy to understand.
  • Past experience of working with the public.
  • Smart/tidy professional appearance.
  • Punctuality and flexibility.

Clinical knowledge

  • Up-to-date clinical knowledge.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of clinical procedures.
  • Aware of normal results/values for test procedures.
  • Able to evidence knowledge of recommended procedures.
  • Awareness of onward referral guidelines.
  • Awareness of BAA guidelines.
