Job description

York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

We are recruiting for an Audio Typist to join the Secretarial Team for up to 37.5 hours per week within the Rheumatology department, based at York Teaching Hospital. You will provide support to the Medical Secretaries and their Consultant Teams.

Excellent administration and audio-typing experience/qualifications are required, as well as a good understanding of general office duties.

You will be responsible for typing clinical and administrative letters and general office duties.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to have good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise the demands of a busy office and manage your time and workload effectively. You will also be required to work unsupervised and communicate with the medical secretary team on a regular basis.

Qualifications
  • GCSE English Language, Grade C or above (or equivalent).
Experience
  • Previous clerical/administrative experience.
  • Experience of using a variety of IT applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience of working in a customer focused environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Proficient audio typist with the ability to accurately transcribe complex audio tapes.
