The Job Overview

The audio producer handles the day-to-day pre-production and planning of our podcast series across several titles. Alongside our journalists, the audio producer will be responsible for making the story come alive through audio, and increasingly through video.

They will work closely with the Head of Audio and Video to develop compelling and insightful programming that makes sense of what is happening now and tell our audiences what they need to know, in line with FT Specialist’s strategy to attract and maintain subscribers.

The audio producer will be comfortable briefing contributors, supporting hosts develop scripts and stay composed in a busy news environment. They will be excited to help land high-reaching and relevant guests to our podcasts, as well as set up, produce and direct recordings and shoots, both to a high standard of proficiency.

They need to be someone brimming with passion on making our podcasts heard in an increasingly busy market. They will be comfortable switching gears in editing between full-length episodes and social cut downs and developing our social strategy in alignment with marketing and live events teams.

Requirements:

  • At least three years of experience producing news, current affairs or business programmes. We’re looking for someone with a keen curiosity about how the financial world works in relation to everyday life.
  • Sophisticated audio editing skills including mixing and mastering.
  • Experience using Riverside, Zencastr or similar and using recording equipment.
  • Sophisticated Adobe knowledge and inquisitive mind for using new AI tools.
  • Confident in advising presenters and making sure we get what we need in recordings.
  • Ability to edit short VT packages to quick deadlines.
  • Self-starter, who’s comfortable working independently.
  • Understanding of the podcast ecosystem, Acast and YouTube alongside media law and commercial regulations

Advantageous:

  • Ability to self shoot, with experience filming in studios desirable.
  • Experience setting up, producing and advising multi-camera studio shoots to a high standard.
  • Experience producing interviews with high-profile guests.
  • Experience of mentoring junior colleagues.
