Seeking: Audio/IT Installation & Maintenance Assistant
The Valley Railroad Company (Essex, CT) is hiring a highly detail-oriented, electrically skilled individual for a 100-hour contract role supporting commercial audio and IT system installs across our unique train fleet.
You’ll work directly under me, EJ Evans (VP), with full authority to execute and troubleshoot installs. We need someone who can follow instructions precisely, grasp technical concepts quickly, and work independently until the job is done right.
This is a hands-on, dynamic role with varied tasks We’re looking for someone who’s adaptable, respectful, and thrives under pressure.

What You’ll Do:
Install conduit, audio, and LAN cabling throughout train cars. Set up amps, speakers, and RJ45/Cat6 terminations. You'll be testing everything to spec—Hours are flexible and based on railyard flow; you’ll need to adapt, commit, and deliver.
Pay & Opportunity:
This is a 100-hour contract paying $16.35–$25/hr, based on your electrical skill and ability to work independently. Crew housing may be available. High performers may be offered longer-term work with the Valley Railroad.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work takes place in a dynamic environment, including historic train cars (moving and stationary), on rails, and within/around station buildings, in all weather conditions. This role requires the ability to stoop, bend, and lift 50 lbs overhead, and to transport your own tools daily.
