Qualifications

  • Willing to work full-time on-site in Brighton or travel.
  • Not open to recent graduates or those with Junior Sound Editor credits.

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for an Audio Engineer to join a leading production team on a full-time, 12–16 week contract based in Brighton, starting September 2026. The role is ideal for candidates with approximately one year of experience as a Sound Assistant in TV factual post‑production, looking to progress into a junior sound editor position. Applicants must be comfortable working in an office environment, with consideration given to those willing to travel. This position is not suitable for recent graduates or those who already hold a Junior Sound Editor credit.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and manage Pro Tools sessions, including editing, track management, and importing AAFs
  • Conform audio to picture changes and ensure seamless integration with video edits
  • Apply EQ, compression, limiting, reverb, and noise reduction techniques as required
  • Organize and manage audio assets using software such as Soundminer or BaseHead
  • Design stereo soundscapes, ambience, and spot effects for factual TV content
  • Collaborate with post-production teams to ensure smooth sound edit-to-mix handovers
  • Maintain session organization and adhere to industry standards, including EBU R128 loudness guidelines
  • Utilize sound effects libraries to enhance audio quality and storytelling
  • Support the team with general post-production audio tasks as needed
Skills And Requirements
  • Minimum one year of experience as a Sound Assistant in TV factual post‑production
  • Proficiency with Pro Tools for session setup, editing, and track management
  • Strong understanding of EQ, compression, limiting, reverb, and noise reduction
  • Experience with audio asset management tools such as Soundminer or BaseHead
  • Demonstrated skills in stereo sound design, ambience, and spot effects

  • Natural history programming experience is a plus
  • Ability to work full‑time on‑site in Brighton or willingness to travel
