Job summary

Harris Clapham Sixth Form is seeking a part-time Home Academy Liaison Officer (HALO) to support welfare, attendance and student success across the Sixth Form.

The role entails managing a caseload of at‑risk students, monitoring attendance, liaising with families and external agencies, and reporting on referrals and counselling. Salary for 22.5 hours per week over 38 weeks is £17,332.79 - £18,374.00 per year.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification or equivalent.
• Knowledge of behaviour for learning policies.
• Knowledge of barriers to learning.
• Training in child protection and safeguarding procedures.
• Basic knowledge of first aid.
• At least three years' experience in inner city school or educational establishment in a pastoral capacity.
• Experience of dealing with attendance issues and working with families.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of at-risk students with attendance below 85%.
• Monitor attendance of vulnerable students across the academy.
• Address poor attendance across the academy.
• Represent the academy at external meetings (e.g. Social Services, LAC Reviews).
• Line manage the Attendance Officer.
• Liaise with the Academy Leadership Group on attendance and welfare concerns.
• Assist with running the student information centre (SIC).
• Communicate with external agencies and providers.
• Engage with parents, including home visits where necessary.
• Liaise with local authority on cases reaching legal intervention.
• Maintain confidential records of student referrals and counselling.
• Prepare reports and maintain records on referrals and support.
