About this opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative colleague to join our Access to Education Service as an Attendance Support Officer working with schools, children, their families and other professionals to ensure all children and young people can access education provision.

As an Attendance Support Officer you will work with schools, children and families and other professionals to promote the importance of regular attendance at school. You will offer advice and guidance to support improved attendance.

You will work closely with identified schools to fulfil the Local Authority’s responsibilities in relation to school attendance as identified in DFE guidance which include holding termly support meetings with each school to identify priorities based on an analysis of data. You will also support intervention plans for individual pupils as required and apply the use of legal frameworks when necessary to promote improved attendance.

The successful candidates will have experience of working with children and families and be able to manage complex situations. They will have excellent communication and negotiation skills and a positive, flexible approach.
