Job description

The University of Greater Manchester is a “Teaching Intensive, Research Informed” institution offering high-quality, student-focused undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that attract learners from around the world.

We are seeking a committed and proactive Attendance and Student Success Officer to join the Greater Manchester Business School (GMBS) on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting to the Quality and Compliance Lead, this role plays a key part in enhancing student engagement, retention, and regulatory compliance.

The post holder will be responsible for monitoring and reporting student attendance, identifying students at risk due to low engagement, and ensuring timely and effective support. A key focus will be ensuring compliance with UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requirements for international students. The role involves close collaboration with academic and support staff, preparing reports, maintaining accurate records, and signposting students to appropriate services.

You will also contribute to student success initiatives, support events such as inductions and open days, and help improve systems for tracking attendance and engagement.

A degree (or equivalent) is essential, along with experience in a student-facing environment. Excellent communication, organisational, and data-handling skills are required, as well as an understanding of UKVI regulations.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact on the student experience in a forward-thinking and inclusive university environment.

We ask a lot from our staff but in return you will receive a competitive benefits package including access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, and employee benefits scheme and generous annual leave entitlement. As a small University, you will have opportunities to work with colleagues across campus to support and deliver the best student experience possible.
