Job summary

Venn Academy Trust is seeking a proactive Attendance Officer to join our school team. You will monitor daily attendance and punctuality, maintain records accurately and follow up unexplained absences to support pupils' education.

You will build positive relationships with pupils and families, analyse attendance patterns and work with pastoral and safeguarding colleagues to implement timely interventions and promote a culture of excellent attendance across the academy.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, organisation and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to analyse information, manage competing priorities and work calmly and discreetly.
• Experience in a school, attendance, pastoral, safeguarding or family-support role would be an advantage, but transferable skills are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily attendance and punctuality, accurately maintaining attendance records and following up unexplained absence.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with pupils and families, offering practical support and challenge where needed.
• Identify attendance patterns and concerns, prepare reports and support timely interventions.
• Work closely with pastoral and safeguarding colleagues, senior leaders and external agencies.
• Support attendance meetings, home visits and formal processes in line with school policy and statutory guidance.
• Promote a whole-school culture in which excellent attendance is understood, encouraged and celebrated.
