Job summary

Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking enthusiastic Attendance Support Officers to join the Education Social Work team in Wrexham. You will work with pupils, families, schools and partner agencies to improve attendance and outcomes, including home visits, mentoring, and delivering Attendance Improvement Plans.

You will analyse attendance data, identify barriers to regular attendance, and support safeguarding alongside professionals.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children, young people and vulnerable families is desirable.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• DBS check required; driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

Responsibilities

• Undertake home visits to pupils and families to support attendance.
• Mentor and support pupils to improve engagement and outcomes.
• Deliver Attendance Improvement Plans and carry out school attendance audits.
• Identify barriers to regular attendance and advise schools and families.
• Analyse attendance data and provide actionable insights.
• Contribute to safeguarding and collaborate with education and social care professionals.
