Job summary

Thetford Academy is seeking a reliable Education Welfare Officer to help drive attendance strategies. The role involves working with pupils, families, staff and external agencies to remove barriers to attendance and ensure pupils engage with school.

Essential qualifications include a degree or NVQ Level 4 and safeguarding training, plus experience with school systems and assessments. This is a part-time, term-time position with generous benefits through Inspiration Trust.

Qualifications

• First degree or NVQ Level 4 in social work, teaching, counselling, psychology or youth/work with children or related experience.
• Safeguarding training completed.
• Experience using social work or counselling approaches with parents and children.
• Knowledge of school pastoral systems.
• Ability to undertake assessments and write high-standard reports.

Responsibilities

• Ensure children attend school regularly and support families and schools in removing barriers to education.
• Identify children needing support and assist with action plans across agencies.
• Assess needs, plan interventions, implement actions and evaluate outcomes with service users.
• Collaborate with parents and other stakeholders on student support.
• Assist safeguarding by working with partner agencies.
• Accurately complete attendance registers and monitor data for at-risk pupils.
