About the role and you :

The Athletic Performance Manager (APM) plays a pivotal leadership role within the Melbourne Mavericks high-performance program. You’ll be responsible for the design and execution of our athlete development and strength & conditioning strategies, while overseeing the coordination of allied health providers and integration of performance services.

In this full-time role, you will collaborate closely with coaching staff, sports medicine, and high-performance personnel to drive athlete wellbeing, performance outcomes, and competitive success. You’ll also recruit, lead, and mentor high-performance staff and interns, ensuring a cohesive, innovative, and athlete-first environment.

This is a unique opportunity to shape a high-performance culture and contribute to the strategic growth of one of the Suncorp Super Netball League’s newest and most ambitious teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of strength & conditioning programs.
  • Manage the annual high-performance calendar in collaboration with the Head Coach and Netball Operations Manager.
  • Coordinate allied health and sports science services to ensure a holistic approach to athlete wellbeing.
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage performance staff and interns.
  • Play an active role in athlete recruitment and onboarding, integrating them into the physical preparation program.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure best-practice performance outcomes.
  • Support and consult across SEN Teams’ broader high-performance structure.
  • Drive the development of processes, policies, and procedures for athlete health and performance.

What We’re Looking For

  • A degree in Human Movement, Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, Coaching or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in elite / professional sport.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multidisciplinary performance teams.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate.
  • Knowledge of cutting-edge strength & conditioning and athlete monitoring practices.
  • Proven ability to manage external providers and integrate allied health support.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain one).
