Job description

Amazon Travel and Events (AT&E) Organisation is seeking a highly motivated and talented Travel and Events Sustainability Manager to join our team. This strategic role leads the definition and execution of Amazon's Travel and Events sustainability program, aligned with Amazon's Climate Pledge commitment of net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

The position involves developing the overall program strategy and guiding teams within and outside the organization to meet program objectives. The successful candidate should be comfortable challenging the status quo and managing multiple large-scale, complex projects to embed sustainability best practices across Amazon businesses.

Ideal candidates will possess a continuous improvement mindset, actively monitor emerging trends in sustainability, and maintain current knowledge of relevant regulations and legislation. A comprehensive understanding of business travel and events, including travel technology, data, and ecosystems, is essential.

Effective communication skills are crucial for this role, requiring clear verbal and written communication across various roles and leadership levels. This position combines strategic thinking with tactical execution to drive measurable results aligned with Amazon's sustainability commitments.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement a T&E sustainability program aligned with Amazon’s Climate Pledge.
  2. Lead multiple global projects from concept to completion, collaborating across divisions.
  3. Establish sustainability goals and projects with various teams.
  4. Manage scope 3.6 carbon data assurance, footprint documentation, and emissions methodology.
  5. Create data-driven solutions for decarbonization goals.
  6. Prepare executive communications, including Amazon 6-pagers, press releases, and FAQs.
  7. Raise awareness of environmental impacts and influence travelers to choose lower carbon options.
  8. Develop supply chain sustainability initiatives aligned with Amazon standards.
  9. Communicate sustainability strategies and motivations effectively.
  10. Lead and coach teams, fostering career development.
  11. Monitor industry best practices and innovations.
  12. Manage vendor relationships ensuring service excellence.
  13. Coordinate with WW Sustainability and other departments to align goals.
  14. Create employee engagement campaigns to promote sustainability participation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in travel and/or events sustainability.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in carbon data reporting and industry methodologies.
  • Understanding of business travel, meetings, events operations, supply chain, and technology.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent data handling, project management, and communication skills.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
