About the role:
Gloucestershire County Council’s Adult Social Care service is offering a full-time Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) opportunity based in Stroud for newly qualified social worker, starting in October 2025. This dedicated induction year is designed to support you as a newly qualified social worker (NQSW), helping you confidently begin and grow in your professional career.
The ASYE programme is robust and structured, developed through feedback from previous participants. It includes peer supervision, practice development workshops, and access to a dedicated ASYE coordinator from the Practice Development Team.
The management structure in Stroud locality is supportive and engaged, featuring an Integrated Social Care Manager, Deputy Social Care Manager, Social Work Leads, and Social Care Lead. The team also includes qualified Senior Social Workers, Social Workers, Adult Social Care Practitioners, and dedicated Administration team.

About you:
We are looking for a passionate Newly Qualified Social Worker who is able to identify themselves against the nine domains of the professional capabilities framework. You must be enthusiastic about learning and developing your practice as a professional, modelling quality and creating space for reflection. We will offer you an environment catered to do this, including challenging you with professional curiosity and supporting you to build effective working relationships within a professional network.
To be eligible for the ASYE programme, you need to have been qualified within the last two years and be registered with Social Work England (SWE). If you are still studying and haven’t received your qualification or SWE registration yet, then you should only apply if you are expecting to receive your qualification this academic year, meaning you are able to begin your ASYE programme in mid-October 2025 for a 12-month programme. On successful completion of the ASYE programme you will move to an experienced social work post in the Stroud team.
