Job summary

Devon County Council is seeking Newly Qualified Social Workers to join the ASYE programme across adult social care. You will work with adults, carers and partner agencies to develop strengths-based practice focused on independence and wellbeing.

This role emphasizes supported learning, reflective practice, reduced caseloads and regular supervision as you begin your professional journey within Devon's integrated teams.

Qualifications

• Requires recognised Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England by February 2027.
• Knowledge of policies and processes in social care with some relevant experience.
• Passionate, person-centred and eager to learn as you transition from education to practice.
• Able to handle complex situations with curiosity, professionalism and supervision when needed.
• Developing professional judgement, decision-making and rapport-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Completing Care Act assessments, reviews and support planning with adults.
• Applying legislation, policy and evidence to real practice scenarios.
• Supporting safeguarding work under supervision from experienced practitioners.
• Building relationships with people, families, carers and partner agencies.
• Carrying out practical social work while learning and building confidence in practice.
