Job Description

As an Assurance Specialist, this role will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity, compliance, efficiency and sustainability of financial, operational and strategic processes. This pivotal role will lead, plan and execute comprehensive internal audits and advisory engagements across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Support the development and execution of the annual internal audit plan aligned with the company's risk assessment, strategic objectives, and regulatory requirements.
  • Autonomously deliver and take accountability end-to-end on the assigned audit engagements in line with the approved Internal Audit Plan and budget across diverse departments, covering financial, strategic, operational, compliance, IT, and ESG risks to assess risk mitigating strategies, identify key control weaknesses, potential fraud risks, and emerging industry trends.
    • Audit planning activities (e.g. audit scoping, risk assessments and audit work programme);
    • Audit execution activities using appropriate audit approaches, tools and techniques;
    • Conduct thorough testing of internal controls, leveraging data analytics tools and methodologies for efficient audit execution;
    • Audit documentation in appropriate templates and maintenance of audit evidence;
    • Prepare clear, concise, and well-supported audit reports with effective, sustainable and actionable recommendations to improve internal controls and strengthen the overall control environment. Report audit issues based on root causes and ability to draw on themes across relevant audits.
  • Confidently present and hold discussions with business stakeholders throughout the audit engagements, including:
    • Obtain understanding of the business processes, controls and self-identified gaps / known risks;
    • Hold discussion with business stakeholders about audit work such as obtaining factual accuracy of audit findings; and
    • Present audit observations and issues with business stakeholders; and discuss remediation actions or solutions.
  • Monitor the implementation of agreed-upon corrective actions and assess their effectiveness.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of respective papers for Senior Management and Executive-level meetings (e.g. Audit Committee, Risk and Assurance Meetings, etc.).
  • Participate in the Quality Assurance and Improvement Programme (QAIP) in line with ABAS standards, methodology.
Qualifications
  • A relevant degree and/or professional qualification e.g. CIMA, ACA, ACCA, CIA or CISA
  • Ability to use a range of data and information sources to perform analysis and produce management reports.
  • Ability to apply Governance and Compliance knowledge to organisational processes and procedures and to understand how governance, risk and compliance processes impact on the business.
  • Ability to Monitorand improveoperational processes.
  • Ability to draw on data in order to make a diagnosis. Then decide between alternative methods to address individual case(s). Recommends improvements to processes/systems.
  • Can establishes and nurturerelationships with stakeholders, by use of effective listening and questioning to better understand the other person or group.
