Job summary

Thames Valley Police is seeking a proactive SIU Assurance Officer to join the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) on a fixed term contract until February 2028. You will help ensure statutory, accreditation and compliance obligations regarding sensitive intelligence and secret material are met, working with national partners.

As part of the SIU, you will lead assurance and audit activity, develop governance frameworks, coordinate inspections, and produce compliance reports.

Qualifications

  • Experience working within a secure environment handling confidential or sensitive intelligence.
  • Experience of compliance, assurance, governance or audit processes.
  • Excellent organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • The confidence to challenge, influence and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong IT skills and the ability to work with complex data sets.
  • A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel across the South East region.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and review systems, processes and governance frameworks that support national accreditation standards.
  • Coordinate and facilitate inspections and accreditation processes with the National Crime Agency and the Sensitive Intelligence Network.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, implementing best practice and driving continuous development within the unit.
  • Produce compliance reports, conduct audits and provide assurance to key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs).
  • Deliver briefings and provide specialist advice to personnel across the South East region.
  • Support training compliance and professional development requirements for SIU staff.
  • Maintain critical records and registers that underpin operational compliance.

In this unique and rewarding role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the SIU meets its statutory, accreditation and compliance obligations in the management of sensitive intelligence and secret material. Working alongside the SIU Detective Inspector and national partners, you will helpmaintainthe professional standards and accreditation that enable law enforcement agencies across theSouth Eastto tackle serious and organised crime effectively.

As the SIU Assurance Officer, you will:

  • Lead and support compliance,assuranceand audit activity across the Sensitive Intelligence Unit.

You will be asked todemonstrateflexibilityregardingworking hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. For thisreasona fullUK Driving Licence is essential to the role.

Whilst we would consider hybrid working for this role, it is essential that the successful candidate is able to commit to a minimum of three days per week in the office.
