Job description

Position Summary

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital is seeking a Nursing Manager to oversee daily clinical operations, ensuring quality service delivery and optimal patient flow.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Coordinate staffing needs and review coverage daily to meet patient care requirements.
  2. Assist with clinical evaluations of team members, complete written performance reviews, and conduct timely assessments.
  3. Participate in hiring and evaluating potential team members.
  4. Monitor compliance with certifications, licenses, and educational requirements for staff.
  5. Coordinate and participate in patient care delivery, ensuring adherence to physician orders and policies.
  6. Perform direct patient care activities as needed to support operational needs.
  7. Engage with patients and families to provide instructions, promote participation, and coordinate nursing activities.
  8. Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
  9. Design, implement, and evaluate nursing models to improve service quality.
  10. Apply evidence-based nursing practices aligned with research and standards.
  11. Communicate ideas clearly and effectively to team members and groups.
  12. Promote and embrace change within the department.
  13. Manage fiscal resources effectively.
  14. Contribute to strategic and financial planning of the unit.
  15. Foster exemplary customer service throughout the department.
  16. Support team member involvement in professional activities.
  17. Maintain professional accountability and involvement in nursing organizations.
  18. Address issues related to individual differences among staff and providers.

  21. Perform other duties as assigned by the nursing operations manager.
  22. Manage human resources functions including hiring, assignments, coaching, and performance counseling.
  23. Maintain punctual attendance per policies and standards.
  24. Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
  25. Other Related Functions

  • Understand risk management concepts.
  • Participate in process improvement activities.
  • Interpret patient information to provide age-specific nursing care according to policies and procedures.
Qualifications

Education/Training: A minimum of a BSN is required for external hires and internal transfers for managerial and educator roles. Incumbents have until December 2026 to complete their degrees. A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with a graduate degree in business or a health-related field is preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in Alabama or Nurse Licensure Compact, and current BLS certification. Additional certifications like ACLS, PALS, NRP, or TNCC may be required based on patient population.

Experience: At least two years of RN experience in an acute care setting.
