Responsible for managing the daily operations within the clinical setting to ensure the delivery of quality service and optimal patient flow.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Coordinate staffing needs and review coverage daily to meet patient care requirements.
- Assist with clinical evaluation of team members, complete written performance evaluations, and conduct timely assessments.
- Participate in hiring and evaluating potential team members.
- Monitor compliance with certifications, licenses, and required education for staff.
- Coordinate and participate in patient care delivery, ensuring compliance with physician orders, policies, procedures, and standards.
- Perform direct patient care activities as needed to meet operational demands.
- Engage with patients and families to provide instruction, promote participation, and coordinate nursing activities.
- Plan and evaluate compliance with organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Design, implement, and assess nursing models to enhance service quality.
- Apply evidence-based, quality clinical nursing practices aligned with research and standards.
- Communicate ideas clearly and effectively in verbal and written forms to team members and groups.
- Promote and communicate change effectively.
- Manage fiscal resources efficiently.
- Contribute to strategic and financial planning of the unit/department.
- Foster exemplary customer service throughout the unit/department.
- Support team member involvement in professional and organizational activities.
- Maintain professional accountability by staying proficient in assigned roles and participating in professional organizations.
- Identify issues from individual differences and develop awareness among staff and providers.
- Advocate for nursing staff and represent concerns of patients, families, and staff.
- Uphold Orlando Health’s mission, vision, and values.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the nursing operations manager or designee.
- Manage HR functions including hiring, assignments, coaching, and performance counseling.
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance per Orlando Health policies and applicable laws.
- Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
- Understand risk management concepts.
- Participate in process improvement activities.
- Interpret patient information needs based on age-specific requirements and provide appropriate nursing care according to policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Education/Training: Minimum of a BSN required for external hires and internal transfers for ANOM, NOM, Director, and Educator roles. Incumbents have until December 2026 to complete their degrees. An MSN, DNP, or a BSN with a graduate degree in business or a health-related field is preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in Alabama or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). Maintain BLS certification. Additional certifications like ACLS, PALS, NRP, or TNCC may be required based on patient population.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in an acute setting.
