Job summary

Arcadis is seeking an Associate Technical Director to lead and deliver complex water sector projects within the MEICA team. You will oversee technical delivery across multi-disciplinary teams, build client relationships and ensure compliance with standards, safety and quality.

Based in the UK with a focus on water and wastewater infrastructure, the role offers leadership responsibility and opportunities to influence project outcomes, mentoring staff and advancing digital design capabilities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (IMechE/IET/CIWEM).
• Significant experience delivering process plant systems in water projects.
• Experience with design and construct projects using digital design.

Responsibilities

• Produce and check complex mechanical designs, calculations, reports and drawings.
• Lead design and advisory services for water/wastewater plants and assets.
• Deliver technical outputs of multi-disciplinary projects in a Design or Technical Lead capacity.
• Develop innovative technical solutions based on client needs.
• Coordinate work with process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and ICA teams.
• Establish and grow client and partner relationships on technical and commercial matters.

Role description:

We are actively seeking an Associate Technical Director to join our Water & Utilities MEICA team. In this role, you'll play a pivotal role in establishing and consolidating relationships across Arcadis and our client base, managing the technical delivery and design outputs of some of the UK's most complex and stimulating projects in the Water sector.

Role accountabilities:

• Ability to work independently and as a team member carrying out production and checking complex mechanical detailed designs including calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings.
• Supporting and / or Leading design and advisory services relating to new and existing water and wastewater process plants, pumping stations and ancillary assets.
• Technical delivery of multi-disciplinary projects, in a Design or Technical Lead capacity where assigned, using latest digital design techniques.
• Identify and develop innovative and optimised technical solutions based on client needs and drivers.
• Lead and co-ordinate work with multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and ICA)
• Establish and grow relationships with clients and partners on project technical, commercial and progress matters.
• Ensuring projects meet required technical, legislative, quality, safety and environmental standards and objectives.
• Line management, mentoring, and performance development responsibility for assigned staff.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other directly related degree.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status and membership of a professional institution such as IMechE, IET, or CIWEM
• Significant experience in technical delivery of process plant systems on complex water industry engineering projects
• Experience of working on design and construct projects using digital design
• Team leader with collaborative behaviours
• Desired: Water and/or wastewater experience
