Job summary

Arcadis is seeking an Associate Technical Director to join our Water & Utilities MEICA team in the UK. You will establish and consolidate relationships with clients, manage technical delivery and design outputs, and lead multi-disciplinary projects in the water sector.

Based in Cardiff or within the UK, you will mentor staff, oversee quality and safety standards, and drive innovative, digital design solutions for complex water and wastewater assets.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a recognised professional institution (IMechE/IET/CIWEM).
  • Significant experience delivering process plant projects in the water sector.
  • Experience with design and construct projects using digital design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead production and checking of complex mechanical designs, calculations, reports and drawings.
  • Support or lead design and advisory services for water and wastewater plants and assets.
  • Deliver multi-disciplinary projects in a Design or Technical Lead capacity using digital design.
  • Identify innovative technical solutions based on client needs and drivers.
  • Coordinate work with multi-disciplinary teams across process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and ICA.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and partners on technical and progress matters.
  • Ensure projects meet technical, legislative, quality, safety and environmental standards.
  • Line management, mentoring and performance development for assigned staff.

Role description

We are actively seeking an Associate Technical Director to join our Water & Utilities MEICA team. In this role, you'll play a pivotal role in establishing and consolidating relationships across Arcadis and our client base, managing the technical delivery and design outputs of some of the UK's most complex and stimulating projects in the Water sector.

Role accountabilities
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member carrying out production and checking complex mechanical detailed designs including calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings.
  • Supporting and / or Leading design and advisory services relating to new and existing water and wastewater process plants, pumping stations and ancillary assets.
  • Technical delivery of multi-disciplinary projects, in a Design or Technical Lead capacity where assigned, using latest digital design techniques.
  • Identify and develop innovative and optimised technical solutions based on client needs and drivers.
  • Lead and co-ordinate work with multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and ICA)
  • Establish and grow relationships with clients and partners on project technical, commercial and progress matters.
  • Ensuring projects meet required technical, legislative, quality, safety and environmental standards and objectives.
  • Line management, mentoring, and performance development responsibility for assigned staff.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other directly related degree.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status and membership of a professional institution such as IMechE, IET, or CIWEM
  • Significant experience in technical delivery of process plant systems on complex water industry engineering projects
  • Experience of working on design and construct projects using digital design
  • Team leader with collaborative behaviours
  • Desired: Water and/or wastewater experience
