In this senior role, you will support the management of large-scale projects and multidisciplinary teams within our Structural Engineering group, reporting directly to a Managing Director.

We’re looking for someone with a proven track record in structural design and project management on major developments. You’ll bring a strong understanding of the construction industry, along with experience managing the design phase of complex projects — including financial oversight and design coordination. The role and responsibilities.

As a Associate Director your responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead and deliver structural engineering projects from concept through to construction, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance
  • Manage project teams and resources, including programme planning, budgeting, and performance reviews
  • Act as the primary technical contact for clients, attending design meetings and presenting design ideas clearly
  • Oversee financial control of projects, including fee proposals, invoicing support, and identifying additional opportunities
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external collaborators to ensure integrated, value-driven design solution
  • Support innovation, promote cross-disciplinary working, and contribute to continuous improvement across the practice
  • Ensure health, safety, quality, and environmental standards are met throughout project delivery

Required Skills.

  • Excellent technical background in the design of building structures in all traditional materials.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate experience in managing and leading teams and projects across a range of industry sectors.
  • Enthusiastic, pro-active and able to work on their own initiative.
  • Proven design and project management experience delivering to quality, time and budget
  • Previous exposure with developers, major contractors, clients of both national and local authorities as well as leading Architects is highly desirable

Qualifications And Experience.

  • Good degree in Engineering
  • Fellow or Chartered Member of an industry related Professional Body i.e. CEng MIStructE / MICE
  • Must have relevant experience of the management and delivery of design for major building projects
  • Experienced in the delivery of complete lifecycle projects through to completion
  • Strong general design knowledge with the ability to work closely with architects and other professionals to develop coordinated designs from concept to construction.
  • A familiarity with relevant design codes in concrete, steel and timber design is essential. (A solid understanding of Eurocodes will be advantageous)
  • Experience working with clients, designers, and contractors, with a proven ability to build strong relationships and deliver high-quality design solutions.
