Job Description:

We are currently working with one of the UK's best known multidisciplinary consultancies as they look to add an Associate Structural Design Engineer to their division in Milton Keynes.

This consultancy's Design Division delivers projects across multiple niche sectors including residential housing developments, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, advanced manufacturing, data centres, energy, and more. They focus on balancing form and function while considering sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability.

Digitalisation is at the core of their delivery model, allowing clients and stakeholders to experience designs from project concept through detailed drawings, leveraging decades of expertise across industries and disciplines. They help clients harmonise design drivers through inspired engineering, architecture, and development services.

What you'll be doing:

This role offers an excellent career progression opportunity within a well-reputed, industry-leading team. Responsibilities include managing the full project lifecycle, financial oversight, and team management. You will report to the Director of Structural Engineering.

Duties:

  • Assist Associate Director / Director in managing the structural engineering team
  • Manage projects and project teams independently
  • Handle financial responsibilities for your projects
  • Prepare fee quotations and handle invoicing
  • Manage staff and collaborate with other consultants
  • Develop the engineering team further
  • Work with senior stakeholders and clients
  • Conduct site visits, structural surveys, investigations, and repair schemes for various structures

Candidate Profile:

Ideal candidates will have a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, preferably be chartered with ICE, IStructE, or equivalent, or be progressing towards chartership.

Additional requirements include:

  • Experience in designing foundations, masonry, concrete (including detailing), steel, and timber structures to Eurocodes
  • Experience in residential markets, including traditional and framed structures
  • Market awareness with knowledge of financial management, client development, and project appointment processes
  • Experience in structural investigations of residential and commercial properties, including 'Building Safety Act' reporting
  • Familiarity with Tekla software (Tekla Designer, Tedds) and ideally AutoCAD/Revit
  • Strong leadership skills and previous management experience are advantageous
  • Decision-making ability, motivation, initiative, and comfort with autonomy and innovation
