Job description

Associate Structural Design Engineer

RPS is currently seeking an experienced Associate Structural Design Engineer to join our Structures Team.

About The Design Business:

RPS Design Division delivers projects across multiple sectors, including residential housing, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, advanced manufacturing, data centres, energy, and more. We aim to balance sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability. Digitalisation is central to our delivery model, enabling clients and stakeholders to experience designs from project concept through execution, supported by expertise across industries and disciplines.

What you’ll be doing:

This role offers an opportunity for career progression as a Structural Engineer within our industry-leading team. You will manage the full project lifecycle, oversee project finances, and lead a team of engineers. You will report to the Director of Structural Engineering.

Duties Include:
  • Assist in managing the structural engineering team
  • Manage projects and project teams independently
  • Handle financial responsibilities for your projects
  • Prepare fee quotations and invoicing
  • Manage staff and external consultants
  • Develop the team of engineers and technicians
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders and clients
  • Conduct site visits, structural surveys, investigations, and repair schemes
Who we’re looking for:

You should have a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent) and be chartered with ICE, IStructE, or working towards chartership.

Additionally, you will:
  • Be experienced in designing foundations, masonry, concrete, steel, and timber structures to Eurocodes
  • Have experience in the residential market, including traditional and framed structures
  • Possess market awareness, financial management skills, and client development experience
  • Be experienced in structural investigations for residential and commercial properties
  • Preferably familiar with the Building Safety Act and structural investigation reporting
  • Be proficient with Tekla (Tekla Designer and Tedds) and ideally AutoCAD/Revit
  • Show strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Be motivated, autonomous, and innovative
