Irwin Mitchell’s Banking and Finance Team, led in Leeds by Paddy Sturman, has substantial experience in banking and debt finance transactions across various sectors with a national footprint. The team advises banks, funders, and borrowers on real estate finance (investment and development), leveraged finance, and corporate banking transactions.

The team’s clients include HSBC UK Bank plc, National Westminster Bank plc, Lloyds Banking Group, Santander UK plc, ThinCats, Nordeutsche Landesbank, and ICG, along with high-profile real estate development businesses and corporates.

Recent activities include:

• Advising HSBC on a syndicated £60 million refinancing of a large, private equity-backed Care Home Group.
• Advising Lloyds and Santander on a syndicated £135 million financing to a prominent northern housebuilder.
• Advising Gravity Fitness on a complex fund financing.
• Advising ICG on a £65 million syndicated senior loan to an aparthotel business.
• Advising Nordeutsche Landesbank on a £29 million syndicated financing of a shopping centre.
• Advising ThinCats on multiple leveraged facilities for various purposes.
• Collaborating regularly with HSBC, Santander, and Lloyds on corporate banking and real estate finance matters.
