Job Description:

Associate/Senior Associate - Commercial Tech & Media

This is a unique opportunity to join a global, future-facing law firm with a strong reputation for excellence in technology, media, and intellectual property. The firm boasts a truly international footprint and is recognised for delivering top-tier commercial, IP, IT, and data protection advice to a diverse client base—from tech start-ups and academic institutions to major multinationals and blue-chip corporations.

With a dynamic and collaborative team culture, this firm actively embraces innovation, including developments in generative AI, fintech, blockchain, and digital health. You will be part of a supportive environment that values bold thinking and professional development, with opportunities to build deep client relationships and develop your own specialisms.

The Role

This is an outstanding opportunity for a Commercial Tech & Media Associate (4+ PQE) to join a growing and dynamic team in London. You will advise clients on a broad range of commercial, IP, technology, and data protection matters, often involving innovative and high-profile projects across various industries including life sciences, fintech, media, consumer products, and telecoms.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements, including licensing, collaboration, outsourcing, system development, and distribution agreements.
  • Advising on complex IP and IT transactions, technology transfers, and high-value commercial deals.
  • Providing practical guidance on data protection and privacy compliance, including GDPR-related matters.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and supporting wider business development initiatives.
  • Working closely with Partners and senior team members across the UK and international offices on cross-border projects.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A qualified solicitor with 4+ years of post-qualification experience in commercial/IP/IT law (candidates outside of this range may also be considered).
  • Previous experience in a well-regarded City, international, or major regional law firm, or an in-house legal team.
  • Strong general commercial expertise with demonstrable experience advising on IP, IT, and data protection matters.
  • Exceptional drafting, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, commercial advice.
  • Experience managing client relationships directly and handling matters independently and as part of a larger team.
  • A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for professional development and contributing to a high-performing team.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary with annual reviews.
  • Generous performance-related bonus scheme.
  • Private medical insurance and enhanced parental leave.
  • Hybrid working policy (typically 2-3 days in the office).
  • 25 days holiday (increasing with length of service) plus a holiday exchange scheme.
  • Opportunities to develop international experience and work on cross-border matters.
  • Access to cutting-edge legal technology and innovation-focused initiatives.
  • A dynamic and inclusive working environment that supports career progression and professional growth.
