Job Description:

Primary Responsibility

The Vector Process & Analytical Development team is focused on the development of Adaptimmune’s Lentiviral Vector manufacturing process, and the development and qualification of the analytical assays used for Lentiviral Vector characterisation and release. The purpose of this role is to support these functions.

An Associate Scientist is required to join the team to contribute to the Vector PD&AD team function by performing following duties:

  • Execution of experimental work as required to support vector team projects
  • Accurate recording of experimental data
  • Maintenance of cell cultures
  • Maintenance of laboratory equipment

Whilst initially requiring supervision by an experienced team member, the job holder will develop further scientific skills to enable them to work independently on routine duties.

The Associate Scientist may also be involved in support activities to enable the smooth running of the group or laboratory (e.g., Lab Steward role).

Performance in this role will be monitored through group performance and stakeholder feedback from peers, senior management, and project team members.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Required

  • Undergraduate degree in Life Sciences, or related discipline
  • Ability to learn and develop to work independently within a reasonable time frame
  • Theoretical or practical knowledge of some of the following: mammalian cell culture, cell-based assays, ELISA, nucleic acid extraction, qPCR, flow cytometry, upstream bioprocessing, downstream bioprocessing.

Desirable

  • Practical experience of laboratory procedures
  • Aseptic cell culture experience
