Job summary

Stantec seeks an Associate Renewable Energy Design Engineer to join our growing renewable energy advisory team across Truro, London, Edinburgh and Bristol. You will lead FEED, IE, OE and TA assignments from concept through to construction, financing, and acquisition for solar, wind and BESS projects.

You will mentor junior team members, manage risks and schedules, and develop client relationships to grow our service offering within a dynamic, early-stage team.

Qualifications

  • Experience in renewable energy project delivery or advisory.
  • Degree or equivalent in electrical/civil engineering, construction management or related field.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects independently.
  • Proactive, organized and solution-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver FEED, IE, OE, and TA assignments across full project lifecycle.
  • Manage project delivery for project finance, tax equity, sales and acquisition mandates.
  • Review technical and commercial documentation including contracts and financial models (CAPEX/OPEX).
  • Conduct site visits, construction monitoring and witness testing.
  • Manage risks, schedules, deliverables and documentation across multiple projects.
  • Produce high-quality technical advisory reports with risks and recommendations.
  • Support clients with contract administration, variations and claims.
  • Lead client and stakeholder meetings with developers, lenders, EPCs, investors and internal teams.
  • Lead Pre-FEED and FEED design teams for wind, solar and BESS projects.
  • Lead Owners Engineering service delivery.
  • Use your network to provide business development support for Stantec.

Job description

We are seeking an Associate Renewable Energy Design Engineer to join our growing renewable energy advisory team across Truro, London, Edinburgh and Bristol. This is a key role supporting the expansion of our Independent Engineering (IE), Owner’s Engineering (OE), and Technical Advisory (TA) services, working with a diverse portfolio of solar PV, wind, and energy storage projects.

You will join a dynamic and ambitious team, with a strong pipeline of early-stage project work and significant opportunities to shape and grow our service offering. This role is ideal for someone looking to step into a client-facing, leadership-oriented position within a collaborative and developing team environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will lead and deliver FEED, IE, OE, and TA assignments across the full project lifecycle from concept and design through to construction, financing, and acquisition.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing project delivery for project finance, tax equity, sales, and acquisition mandates

  • Providing technical leadership and quality assurance across internal project teams
  • Identifying and mitigating key technical and commercial risks
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to clients across design, procurement, and construction phases
  • Supporting financial close by delivering robust technical due diligence
  • Strengthening client relationships and contributing to repeat business
  • Mentoring junior team members and helping build technical capability within a growing, relatively early-stage team
ABOUT YOU

You are a motivated and commercially aware professional with experience in renewable energy project delivery or advisory.

We are looking for:
  • Sufficient experience in renewable energy (IE/OE/TA, development, construction, O&M, or M&A)
  • Experience supporting projects through financial close with lenders or investors
  • Strong understanding of project delivery, contracts, and risk management
  • Degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering, civil engineering, construction management, or a related field
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects independently
  • A proactive, organised, and solution-oriented mindset
