Job description
Overview

Applications are invited for the post of Associate Professor (or Professor) in the field of Cosmology in the Astrophysics sub-department of the University of Oxford. The successful candidate will also be appointed to a Tutorial Fellowship in Physics at St Peter's College under arrangements described in the Job Description and Person Specification. The appointment will be initially for five years, after which, upon a successful review, the post-holder will be eligible for reappointment to retirement age.

Responsibilities and Focus
  • Engage in research in cosmology with emphasis on analysis of large-scale structure and cosmic microwave background data; contribute to exploitation of ongoing and near-future ”Stage-IV” surveys.
  • Data analysis at any level, development of novel statistical methods, or theoretical modelling of cosmological and astrophysical observables.
  • Contribute to the running of the College as a charity trustee and a member of its Governing Body.
  • Provide excellent teaching of undergraduates and graduates and engage effectively with students and colleagues at all levels.
Eligibility and Requirements
  • Doctorate in astronomy, astrophysics, theoretical physics or a related field.
  • Proven record of research in astrophysics.
  • Interpersonal skills and commitment to high-quality teaching.
