Job summary

Band 6 Associate Procurement Manager

  • The Procurement Managers within the Trust work independently in their respective sections but report to the Head of Procurement.
  • The role aims to deliver cost and efficiency savings across the Trust by analyzing current spend in specific categories and supporting the development and implementation of procurement strategies.

Main duties of the job:

  • Develop expertise in their field, work autonomously after training, and develop special interest areas to aid in knowledge sharing within the procurement team.
  • Investigate complex procurement enquiries, provide advice, and ensure contract compliance under guidance from the Deputy Head of Procurement.
  • Deliver cost-effective purchasing and contracts work programmes to achieve targeted financial savings.
  • Share knowledge daily with the Procurement Admin Team and act as a point of contact for junior staff on site.

Person Specification

Qualifications (Essential):

  • Degree in procurement or a relevant related subject, or significant procurement knowledge and skills expected to be gained over 2-3 years.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supplies or a commitment to achieve it.

Desirable:

  • Previous NHS procurement experience in a non-clinical category.
  • Experience with Atamis and EFin systems.

Experience (Essential):

  • Understanding of stakeholder engagement mechanisms.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of procurement contract law and dispute resolution, with practical experience.
