Our client has an excellent opportunity for an Associate/Principal Civil Infrastructure Engineer to lead our residential design team at our headquarters in Almondsbury, near Bristol. You will collaborate with our national discipline leader and team.

Overview of the role

The role involves leading a team of engineers and technicians to deliver innovative and sustainable civil engineering solutions for our house building clients. The successful candidate will have hands-on design involvement, budget management, and work-winning responsibilities. You will work closely with colleagues from different engineering backgrounds to deliver projects from concept to detailed design. You will also nurture existing client relationships and form new alliances. This is a great opportunity to contribute ideas and drive the department forward.

Skills and experience required:

• At least 10 years’ relevant experience and qualifications in Civil Engineering
• Thorough understanding of Section 38 and 278 adoption procedures, plot engineering, and private drainage design
• Excellent analysis and technical design skills in AutoCAD, WinDES, and PDS (or equivalent software like Civils 3D)
• Strong communication skills
• Experience working with developers, architects, and planners
• Knowledge of UK planning procedures
• Line management experience
• Ability to estimate design fees and respond to quotations
• Experience negotiating technical approvals from highway and drainage authorities
• Self-motivated with good people skills and an aptitude for work winning
