Job description

The NEE Respiratory service provides care to patients from clinics, Pulmonary rehab classes, and in their own homes.

We are seeking an Associate Practitioner for a fixed-term position until 31/3/2026. The role primarily involves delivering Pulmonary Rehabilitation within the service, with additional support for COPD and respiratory physiotherapy appointments.

The responsibilities include supporting assessment tasks, offering advice and signposting, and leading exercise classes, mainly focusing on Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The role also involves data entry for the national audit program.

You will collaborate with colleagues across health, social care, education, mental health, and voluntary sectors to ensure holistic care delivery. Empowering patients to make decisions about their care, signposting to community and voluntary services, and supporting patients, carers, and assistants in risk management are key aspects of this role.

This is a fixed-term/secondment position until 31 March 2025. Internal applicants employed by ESNEFT will be considered on a secondment basis only.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist registered staff in delivering patient care efficiently, maximizing professional time both clinically and non-clinically.
  2. Assess patients and provide advice and rehabilitation activities for those with acute or chronic needs, within the competency framework developed by physiotherapists or nurses.
  3. Organize and run exercise classes in the community and via virtual platforms, maintaining high professional standards.
  4. Work independently under supervision, reporting patient progress and any issues to qualified clinicians.
  5. Progress treatments independently for delegated patients, determining discharge readiness.
  6. Participate in audits and data collection, including uploading data to the national audit portal.
  7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records as per departmental guidelines.
  8. Perform administrative duties and manage stock, reporting faulty equipment as per policy.
