Job description

Brook Medical Centre andDerwent Medical Centre are looking to recruit an Associate Practice Manager.The post holder will work with the Practice Business Manager in ensuring thesmooth running of the day to day operation of both practices, managing changeand developing both practices to prepare for the future.

We are looking for anindividual who has experience of managing a team, and who has excellentinterpersonal and IT skills. You must be organised and confident and able towork on your own initiative. You will need a friendly and approachable mannerand have the ability to work under pressure in a changing environment. Previousprimary care and use of System One is desirable.

About us

The practices are situatedapproximately one mile apart and cover a practice population of 9000 with 3 GPpartners. They are small friendly practices with traditional values.

Main duties of the job
  • To work with the business manager in the day-to-day operations of both practices, ensuring staff achieve their primary responsibilities and both practices become Centres of Excellence
  • Oversee recruitment and retention of staff and manage HR issues
  • Practice Administrator for clinical system
  • Support the business manager in developing and reviewing practice policies and procedures.
  • Support the overall practice clinical governance framework
  • Assist in ensuring both practices achieve maximum QOF and enhance services indicators
  • Assist the Business Manager with Primary Care Networks (PCN) collaboration and plans.
  • Convene staff meetings, prepare agendas and ensure distribution of minutes as necessary.
  • Liaise at external meetings as required.
  • Assist the business manager in ensuring both practices are CQC compliant
  • Deputise for the business manager in her absence.

Person Specification
Experience
  • Experience of working with the general public
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting
  • Experience of performance management, including appraisal writing, staff development and disciplinary procedures.
  • Experience of successfully developing and implementing projects.
  • Experience of managing accounting procedures
  • NHS/Primary Care/GP experience
  • Relevant Health & Safety experience
  • Experience of chairing meetings, producing agendas and minutes.
Qualifications
  • Good standard of education with excellent literacy and numeracy skills
  • Previous leadership role
  • Educated to degree level in healthcare or business, or have equivalent experience.
