The Role:

As an Associate, you will take a leadership role in planning applications and projects, coordinating and overseeing project execution. You will assist the Regional Director and Associate Directors in developing the team’s core competencies and enhancing your technical and mentoring skills.

  • Preparing and submitting planning applications
  • Preparing local plan representations
  • Conducting site inspections and assessing proposals
  • Guiding engineers/architects on drawings and supplementary information for planning submissions
  • Submitting planning appeals and leading written representations and hearings
  • Managing planning submissions and appeals, including technical work and liaising with clients
  • Developing fee proposals, policy research, and project execution
  • Understanding financial aspects and acting in the interest of project success
  • Interpreting, researching, analyzing, and executing major and medium-scale projects
  • Providing technical guidance, managing budgets, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Negotiating terms and managing legal and contractual aspects
  • Generating workload through market understanding and project proposal input
  • Developing innovative methods to improve solutions and outcomes
  • Managing and mentoring team members, maintaining CPD commitments
  • Building networks with stakeholders, clients, contractors, and colleagues
  • Demonstrating leadership and influencing others at all levels
  • Preparing and delivering presentations effectively
  • Developing industry relationships and internal networks
  • Ensuring excellent client experiences and project outcomes
  • Managing project budgets and WIP
Candidate Requirements:
  • RTPI accredited degree or master's in a related discipline
  • Chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute or working towards it
  • At least two years’ post-qualification experience in planning
  • Experience in the public or private sector
  • Excellent communication skills, client liaison, negotiation, and report writing skills
  • Strong project management skills and understanding of the UK planning process
