Associate Medical Director - CAS, OOH & Digital Health Services

gtd healthcare are looking for a committed and driven Associate Medical Director to join our medical leadership team.

gtd healthcare is one of the largest, not-for-profit, NHS commissioned primary and urgent care providers in North West England. Our medical directorship is continuing to grow, increasing resources and leadership capacity to a level above and beyond what has ever been in place before.

As an Associate Medical Director, you will provide leadership across the Clinical Assessment Service, Out of Hours Service and Digital Health Services, and be part of a leadership team responsible for leading these services within the gtd footprint. The successful candidate will ensure that we deliver safe and effective care to our patients.

Main duties of the job
  • You will be the link between gtd Clinical Assessment Service (CAS), Out of Hours Service (OOH) and Digital Health Services and the Medical Director as the subject matter expert on all things relating to gtd CAS, OOH and Digital Health Services.
  • You will have direct line management responsibilities for the Medical Clinical Leads for the service and for our doctors and Physician Associates (PAs) working in these services.
  • Provide professional support to your Medical Leads; to support everyone to achieve their developmental ambitions in line with the ongoing development of all gtd healthcare Clinical Assessment Service, Out of Hours Service and Digital Health Services and relevant Clinical staff.
  • Work closely with the Senior Management Operations and the nonmedical leadership team to ensure the service is safe, efficient, and effective. You would have responsibilities for clinical performance management utilising the relevant tools for support.

Job responsibilities

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • You will be the link between gtd Clinical Assessment Service (CAS), Out of Hours Service (OOH) and Digital Health Services and the Medical Director as the subject matter expert on all things relating to gtd CAS, OOH and Digital Health Services.
  • You will be the lead clinical link for all our digital innovation developments and be the clinical safety officer. You would be expected to undertake training to ensure appropriate skills are acquired to perform as the Clinical safety Officer.
  • You will be part of an Associate Medical Directors Team to ensure that safe and effective patient care is delivered across the gtd footprint.
  • You will be supported in developing your leadership and management skills.
  • You will take medical responsibility for attending relevant governance groups and participate in incident and complaints management.
  • You will support governance agenda ensuring that there is a process in place for clinical audits for OOH and gtd CAS.
  • You would be responsible for reviewing / auditing Emergency Department & Northwest Ambulance Service pass back rates and discussing any concerns with clinicians on a 1:1 basis, demonstrating an improvement in clinical performance.
  • You would be responsible for the system of clinical performance review that identifies any issues, as well as further targeted measures with individuals who fall below levels in auditing performance. This may include, but not exclusively, issues with conversion rates and productivity of GPs where concerns had been raised (gtd CAS) e.g. discussing these on a 1:1 basis or escalating to GP Adviser's.
  • You will be required to attend the monthly Greater Manchester Urgent Primary Care Alliance (GMUPCA) meeting giving feedback to the Medical Director ad hoc and at 1:1 meetings with Medical Director.
  • You would be required to work with the Clinical Performance Manager for GMUPCA Clinical Assessment Service on matters relating to gtd performance in the Greater Manchester CAS service.
  • You would take responsibility for the Implementation of learning following incidents internally or those shared by partner organisations within the Alliance.
  • You would be our subject matter expert in engaging with senior clinical members of the GMA CAS around service development of the GM CAS.
  • You would ensure gtd healthcares representation at the clinical reference group.
  • Working with the Clinical and Senior Operations Team, you would ensure that all requirements for successful CQC reviews are met.
  • You would be required to be part of any recruitment initiative to ensure optimal medical staffing in all our gtd CAS, OOH and Digital Health Services ensuring that our workforce planning agenda is met for this service.
  • You will be responsible for the line management of all gtd CAS, OOH and Digital Health Services Leads and support them in the line management of gtd CAS, OOH and Digital Health Services Doctors and relevant clinical staff. You will provide professional supervision, guidance, and support in the completion of job planning.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Fully qualified GP with GMC registration.
  • Certificate of completion of training in General practice with MRCGP examination or equivalent.
  • Included on the GP performers list (with no conditions preventing working or restrictions on practice).
  • Comply with annual appraisal and revalidation.
  • Eligible to work in UK with UK work permit (if required).
  • Full professional indemnity.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • UK driving license.
  • GMC approved GPST educational trainer or desire to develop role.
  • Postgraduate qualification in medical management or medical leadership.
Experience
  • Experience of working in primary care environment.
  • Clear understanding of professional responsibility and accountability.
  • Excellent clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic primary care presentations.
  • Experience of increasing staff engagement and motivation to
  • Good understanding of the principles of Quality Improvement and its application.
  • Good understanding of the principles of clinical governance, including investigation of incidents and complaints and the ability to extract and action quality improvements arising from them.
