Job description
Associate Mechanical Design Engineer – London

to £70,000 + c.10% Bonus + Pension 12% + Clear Career Progression.

Are you working in mechanical building services design but looking for a move away from the pressure, tight deadlines, and long hours of a typical Design Consultancy?

Then it is worth considering a career move into one of the world’s leading and most respected Property Consultancies.

Overview

This global Property Consultancy has developed its own internal M&E Design Consultancy to deliver M&E Design & Project Management to clients who are owners and occupiers of large real estate portfolios.

They have access to their own client base and do not have to competitively tender for projects, resulting in a less pressurised environment and providing the resources to recruit into the M&E team when needed rather than expecting employees to shoulder more pressure and work excessive hours.

This is essentially a client-side role that will give you direct access to clients, working on the client’s behalf as part of the client team as the client’s representative, offering you direct access to clients’ thinking and insight into drivers behind commercial property ownership.

With a clear three-year plan to grow the M&E offering by 50% over the next three years, this role presents a substantial ongoing career opportunity.

You’ll deepen your understanding of mechanical design and the commercial drivers behind property ownership by working client-side in the commercial property sector, with access to this experience setting you apart from peers in Design Consultancy.

There is an established team of experienced M&E Engineers, with structured training to CEng and a clear route to progress to Director level and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • An in-depth knowledge of Building Services practices, procedures, and standards with particular focus on full mechanical Building Services design and Project Management.
  • A passion for decarbonisation and design of Net Zero systems.
  • Knowledge of the BIM process and the built environment would be advantageous.
  • The ability to work as part of a team or autonomously, with excellent team skills and strong attention to detail.
What’s in it for you

As a key player within the MEP division, you’ll be designing, leading and supervising varied and interesting projects across a broad range of high-profile Commercial Buildings with full autonomy to implement your designs.

Supported by the M&E team and M&E Partners, you will benefit educationally from working closely with other in-house disciplines across Project Management, Building Surveying and M&E Asset Management.

You will be supported in delivering and leading projects where MEP is crucial to the project’s success and will contribute to future-proofing low energy buildings.

You will be expected to design, manage, and supervise projects, coordinating with other engineering and real estate disciplines. Carry out detailed design in accordance with industry guides. Prepare specifications, reports, design drawings and budget costs to programme. Supervise project works on site, workmanship and testing.

You will also learn how to undertake professional M&E Technical Due Diligence surveys, dilapidations, and audits/reports.

Benefits

Opportunity to work client-side and differentiate yourself in Design Consultancy, with a competitive salary, car allowance, significant annual bonus, 12% contributory pension and flexible package options.

With staff development and retention at the core of its values, they promote from within and have one of the best levels of employee engagement in the industry.

Autonomy is supported, with the option to work from home or in the office, while being fully supported by the M&E Partner.
