Job Description:

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • We are seeking a Commercial Lawyer with experience in IT/Technology and Outsourcing to join our highly regarded, Tier 1-ranked national practice. The role involves delivering complex, high-value commercial and technology projects, advising on medium to large-scale transactions across various sectors, especially where digitalisation, outsourcing, and regulatory change intersect.
  • The successful candidate will advise FTSE 100 companies, household-name retailers, energy and utility providers, and industrial and manufacturing companies on high-profile digital, sourcing, and transformation mandates. They will contribute to growing our commercial technology offerings and mentor junior team members.
  • This role supports our strategic growth in regulated technology, data, outsourcing, and transformation advice.
THE TEAM

Our Commercial team is a national group working across offices on cross-border transactions. We are ranked Tier 1 for IT, handling some of the largest and most complex digital transformation projects in the market.

The team manages work types including tech transformations, cloud and SaaS arrangements, IT outsourcing, business process outsourcing, facilities management outsourcing, logistics, IT licenses, and commercial contracts.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE
  • Lead and support on technology, outsourcing, and commercial contracts, including strategic digital transformation projects.
  • Negotiate IT and BPO outsourcing arrangements, SaaS/cloud service contracts, licensing, and supply chain agreements with clients.
  • Manage a diverse workload of large-scale and mid-market transactions, acting as lead adviser or team member.
  • Develop long-term client relationships, becoming a trusted legal adviser.
  • Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to team growth and internal knowledge sharing.
  • Support business development and thought leadership initiatives.
YOUR AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

Essential

  • Qualified lawyer with 4+ PQE in commercial and technology law.
  • Experience advising on IT outsourcing, SaaS/cloud, software licensing, or technology infrastructure agreements.
  • Ability to lead transactions and manage client relationships confidently.
  • Strategic and consultative approach, translating legal advice into commercial value.
  • Ability to handle multiple workstreams and meet deadlines.

Desirable

  • Sector experience in retail & consumer, energy and utilities, industrial, manufacturing, or digital health.
  • Familiarity with regulatory issues impacting technology contracting.
  • In-house or client secondment experience demonstrating strong commercial judgment.
