Associate Investment Consultant

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Cork / Dublin offices. As an Associated Investment Consultant, you will be a key member of our dedicated team, playing a vital role in meeting the expectations of our clients through the delivery of high-quality servicing and investment advice.

About Aon Investment Practice

The Investment Practice specializes in providing investment advice to a wide range of clients on investment strategy, asset allocation, investment manager selection and monitoring. As our client base in Ireland continues to grow, we are excited to offer you a unique opportunity to join our team.

From a base in either Cork or Dublin, you will have exposure to a wide range of investment services covering our diverse and growing client portfolio.

What the day will look like

You will join the investment consulting team and will provide support to investment consultants in all aspects of investment consultancy.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Working as part of a team, creating and enhancing regular client investment performance reports and supporting materials on a timely basis
  • Be involved with modelling and design of specific investment strategies for clients
  • Under-take fund performance and manager research analysis for the team
  • Efficiently lead deliverables and exhibit the ability to work independently for routine client projects
  • Coordinate project work and timely delivery of advice to the client or lead investment consultant for review, including preparation of materials for client meetings.
  • Conduct and perform asset liability modelling studies utilising Aon's proprietary modelling tools to assist in developing investment strategies for clients.
  • Participating in the success of the business through mentoring and training for Analysts
  • Develop strong relationships across the firm i.e. with Retirement Consultants, the Administration team, Marketing and Communications, the UK Investment team, the Delegated Consulting investment management team, and the Global Investment Manager Selection team

We look to offer as much experience as you can handle, and with the appropriate support, you will provide support to Investment Consultants in all aspects of Investment consultancy and look to build client relationships.

You will gain exposure to a wide range of investment services covering our diverse and growing client portfolio. Initially, supporting the senior members of our investment team in all aspects of investment consultancy, you will be expected to progress rapidly and take responsibility for your own clients.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

Enthused by superior client service, the ideal individual possesses the following:

  • Educated to degree level in Actuarial or Financial Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent certification
  • Gained or working towards a professional qualification (CFA or Actuarial desirable)
  • Willingness to complete APA/QFA qualification (APA in Savings & Investment)
  • You hold a strong experience base with a number of years' financial services experience preferably with a major consulting, asset management or banking firm involved in advising occupational pension schemes and/or institutional investors.
  • Prior experience and knowledge of asset liability modelling and liability driven investment strategies is a distinct advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the process for setting an investment strategy for occupational pension schemes and long-term investors and the factors that influence a clients’ decision is a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and writing skills with a complimentary professional presentation style
  • Highly proficient with software packages (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint) would be beneficial
  • A proactive, self-starter with the ability to handle own workload and work well in a fast-paced environment
  • A team player – enjoys contributing, innovation and is comfortable working at all levels
  • A strong work ethic and sense of ownership
